The Gullwing
Drawing inspiration from the legendary 1954-1963 300SL, known affectionately as "The Gullwing," Treiber's T54SL timepiece, embodies the spirit of automotive excellence and racing prowess. The 300SL isn't merely a car; it's a symbol of innovation, style, and dominance on the racetrack. With victories in prestigious events like the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Mille Miglia, it set the standard for performance and aesthetics.
Every curve, every gauge, every dash knob of the 300SL speaks volumes about its meticulous design and engineering. It's this attention to detail that serves as the cornerstone of our watch's design philosophy. The T54SL pays homage to the iconic car's distinctive features, from its sleek silhouette to its signature "eyebrow" wheel arches, which not only enhanced aerodynamics but also contributed to its record-breaking speed.
FINAL DESIGN CHANGES
Over the past few months, we’ve gathered feedback on the initial prototypes and made a few small adjustments to enhance both design and functionality. Please note that the photos in this listing reflect the initial prototypes, so the changes outlined below are not yet shown. Here’s a summary of the improvements, including some renderings:
FINE ADJUSTMENT CLASP
We’ve developed a new fine-adjustable butterfly clasp, allowing for tool-less fine adjustment in two 2.5 mm increments, providing up to 5 mm of total adjustment without needing to remove any links.
A custom rotor featuring the Treiber™ logo will now be added to the movement, visible through the exhibition caseback. The design, with its bean-shaped cutouts, is inspired by the steel wheels of the 300SL and many other classic cars of that era.
MOVEMENT ROTOR
To enhance dial design, we’ve developed new date wheels. The Asphalt Black dial will feature a black date wheel with cream numerals, matching the dial. The Strawberry Red and Blue-Grey dials will have cream backgrounds with black numerals for improved readability. For the Alpine White dial, we will use a white date wheel with black numerals, matching the dial.
Date Wheels
We've slightly modified the dial printing to include four minute markers between each 5-minute marker, instead of the two markers on the prototypes. This change allows for more precise time reading and adjustment.

Lugs
The unique and asymmetric lugs of the T54SL mimic the gentle curves of the ‘eyebrow’ wheel arches that once ruled the roads. The design serves both form and function. Much like the ‘eyebrows’ beautifully hug the 300SL’s wheels, improving aerodynamics, our watch lugs elegantly embrace your wrist.
Dial
The dial and handset of the T54SL are inspired by the gauges that once indicated fastest speed in the world for a production car of its time. The 300SL took the world by storm when it was unleashed in 1954 redefining speed and style. The dial colors also match some of the paint colors available on the 300SL.
Crown
The crown of the T54SL is inspired by the radio knobs on the 300SL. Like the radio knob, our crown has 12 facets providing the perfect mix of form and function. The crown also features Treiber’s wing logo etched into it.
